Sportchek and Atmosphere Sports are sister companies. In 2015 the executive decision was made to transform all Atmosphere Sports from budget stores to high end establishments catering to the outdoor enthusiast. Some 40 stores across Canada were fully renovated.
See below for more details of the renovation, and some sample photos of the finished project.
The Kamloops location had a budget of $500,000 and a timeline of 90 days. The entire store of 7,000 square feet was completely gutted. All new electrical, plumbing, and fire sprinkler systems were installed. Large fir beams were erected, along with extensive stonework and murals depicting the outdoors. New lighting and bulkheads were built. All new displays were installed featuring a variety of outdoor activities.
There were many challenges throughout the project in dealing with the design team, architects, and engineers. Building codes from the City of Kamloops and requirements from the Kamloops Fire Department had to be met. We calmly and reasonably worked together as a team. All the building and fire codes were properly followed. The project was completed under the estimated budget, one week before the deadline.
